Summer Reading

One thing I missed during the school year was reading. Ok, so obviously I did a lot of reading for class, but what I missed was reading what I want when I want.

After I finished my last paper, I spent some time reading the New York Times Magazine. I love that magazine and I hadn’t gotten to read it for months. Just sitting in front of the computer, reading and not really doing anything else was so nice. Leisurely.

I really want to read some novels too. I have about three books that I started over winter and spring break that I need to finish. They sat and waited for me on my bookshelf at school and now I should really read them.

I also want to read some poetry. It seems that I know nothing about poetry and the poetic canon. I just feel like I don’t know how to read poetry, which is kind of silly because I don’t think there’s a specific way to read it.

I might read the new Toni Morrison book, A Mercy. And I might reread The Time Traveler’s Wife because they’re making a movie with Rachel McAdams (!) and I love the book.
