Queer Media 101 (Part 1-AfterEllen)
Basically the website for up-to-the minute updates on your lesbian/bisexual/FtM and occassional gay boy media goodies. It is probably my favorite site, I’ve been checking it religiously since 2005 or so. Know it, use it, love it.
Check out: Cherry Bomb (video blog), daily blog, Anyone But Me (online tv series), Come With Me (video blog), anything written by Malinda Lo, reviews of movies, and, of course, Best Lesbian Week Ever.

Tip: If you are ever in need of a good topic when meeting someone for the first time (at Happy Hour perhaps??) bring up a good movie or TV show you’ve seen that features LGBT/queer characters. This can go in several directions. Bring up Imagine Me & You and you have a good opportunity to suggest a RomCom snuggle sesh. Or you could talk about the lack of representation and make it more of a political discussion. Some people like to analyse the nitty-gritty of the scene: “They kissed for exactly 3.5 seconds and it was the record for network television…” And so on. If nothing else, you can see how comfortable the other person is discussing queer topics.
